Lose Weight Fast: Why All Exercises Are Not Created Equal

Most people who are trying to lose weight, know that those silly machines that you see on TV infomercials are just that, silly, and will not help you to actually lose weight.  It is common knowledge that proper nutrition and exercise are all that is needed in order to lose weight fast.  The problem is, they don’t know the specifics about what exercises they should be doing, and more importantly, what exercises they shouldn’t be doing.  Not all exercises are created equally, and one exercise that many people do to try and lose weight is actually not helping them at all.  I will explore this type of exercise and offer an alternative that will really help your body to burn fat and help you to lose the weight.

Cardio exercise is great if you are trying to train for a marathon, triathlon, or even to play a sport.  This is because the more that you do cardio exercises, your body will begin to adapt to the motions and become much more efficient.  This allows you to be able to run farther, run faster, and use way less energy.  While this is what you want when training, it is the exact opposite of what you want for weight loss.  You want your body to be using energy, more specifically, you want your body burning fat for energy.  If your body becomes more and more efficient through continual cardio exercise, it won’t be burning nearly as much fat as it needs to burn.  While cardio exercise can be a good warm up before other exercises, do not do cardio to try and lose weight because it won’t work in the long run.

So, what exercises should you be doing?  Strength training exercises confuse your body, and so it will continually burn fat instead of having a chance to become efficient.  This is because you can continually add more weight  and more resistance as your body does start adapting.  This is how muscle is built, and muscle plays an important part in the fat burning process.  In fact, if you build up lean muscle mass, you will be able to not only burn fat when you are working out, but the muscle mass can also help to burn fat throughout your day, even if you aren’t working out.

Strength training exercises include anything that provides resistance.  A lot of people use free weights, but those are not your only option.  Weight machines will still provide a good workout as well as resistance bands.  You don’t even need to pay for a gym membership or pay for workout equipment.  You can use your own body weight by doing pushups or lunges, or you can simply lift heavy objects around your house.

If your goal is to lose weight fast, then do not do cardio exercise.  Focus on resistance training and you’ll be able to build muscle and in turn, you’ll be able to burn fat and burning fat is truly the only way to see lasting weight loss results.
