Since there does not seem to be any increase in the salaries paid to traditional adjunct college teachers working in physical universities and colleges, it is possible there is something drastically wrong with the academic labor model as it is manifested at the physical colleges and universities. It would appear that an individual with an earned graduate degree, doctorate or masters degree, is viewed as nothing more than an intellectual drudge to be paid as little as possible for as much intellectual labor as it is possible to drag out of them. There are, of course, arguments, sound arguments, for both sides of this thesis. However, what cannot be argued is the ability of distance education technology to produce an unheard of number of online bachelor degree programs and online master degree programs.

The reality of distance education is that college teaching as a career now and in the future will exist on the Internet. A college teacher at this time who ignores the benefits of online teaching employment opportunities does so at their own professional peril. All is not lost fortunately because an earned graduate degree is fully one half what is required to earn a very nice living by teaching online is an online adjunct instructor for multiple accredited online college degree programs. The other half of what is required consist of inferior computer skills, and the skills can be learned in the same way that the graduate level educational material was learned on the way to acquiring a masters degree or doctorate.

The college teachers who understand how to combine their academic credentials with high levels computer knowledge are able to teach ten to fifteen online college classes at one time. Granted, this many online college courses requires a very high level of concentration, and the online adjunct employment workload is certainly nothing to sneer at, but those academics who understand how to function as academic entrepreneurs instead of a faculty members are reaping the financial rewards. Understandably, there are legitimate questions about other benefits acquired by teaching online or online degree programs that do not concern simply income. The two major benefits of online teaching our complete mobility and scalability of the teaching schedule.

The mobility issue is defined by not having to be in any one geographic place at any given time in order to a complete all of the task required of an online adjunct instructor. For example, an online adjunct instructor can teach from an airport lounge while in route to a new city or town. A college teacher with eight online college courses can literally pick up those courses and carry them to the beach, to her new condo or simply to a new bookstore that provides free wireless access to the Internet.

This freedom of movement can be very empowering for college teachers who because they work at physical colleges and universities cannot leave the immediate physical area in which they will teach. The second great benefit of being an online adjunct instructor is that the teaching schedule can be scaled up or down in terms of the total numbers of online college classes taught at any given time by simply declining online college courses offered by an accredited online bachelor degree program or an accredited online master degree program and by applying two new online degree programs as they become available at colleges and universities.

There probably isn’t anything sadder than an intellectual with a graduate degree who is questioning the ability of the college teaching profession to provide a decent living. After all, the enormous amount of effort it takes to earn a Ph.D. or master’s degree indicates a strong belief in the value of the educational process. So, when the harsh reality of the post-secondary labor market is no longer avoidable a sense of ruin and rack sets in for most adjunct college instructors at traditional colleges and universities. All is not lost for adjunct college teachers, however, because there are no academic limits with adjunct positions. Accredited online bachelor degree programs and accredited online master degree programs are quickly replacing the sad physical college classrooms as the locus of higher education, and the college adjunct instructors who master the time management and technical skill sets required to literally dance in and out online college classrooms every day will reap the economic rewards offered by the generation of multiple online adjunct income streams resulting from full time online teaching.

For example, an online adjunct instructor is in complete control of the teaching schedule. This is much different from simply waiting quietly for the dean or department head of a physical college to inform the lucky adjunct instructors which few classes they will be permitted to teach. An online adjunct college teacher can scale the teaching schedule at will, which mean if more money in desired the process of acquiring it is as simple as submitting additional application for online teaching to more accredited online college degree programs. On the other hand, if more free time is the goal of an online teacher it is just as simple to decline offered online faculty positions. In addition to the scalability of the online teaching schedule, it is possible to be an online adjunct instructor without having to use a motor vehicle to arrive at class.

Most traditional adjunct instructors are forced to spend a good portion of their meager pay on transportation to and from various college and university campuses. This is not the case for college teacher who engage on online teaching because the only vehicle, so to speak, necessary to arrive in the online college course is an inexpensive laptop computer capable of accessing the Internet through a wireless connection. Since the costs associated with driving a vehicle are considerable these days, it is entirely legitimate to consider the savings realized by teaching online for a variety of accredited online college degree programs a silent paycheck.

However, there an additional aspect of teaching online that is possibly the most enjoyable element of mastering the search strategy for finding online nursing masters programs, online bachelor degree programs and online college degree programs that need qualified online adjunct instructors to teach the new and returning college students enrolled in the online university programs, and that is the mobility online teaching offers the college instructors. It is possible to tuck the entire online teaching schedule, the online college classes and the online degree programs under the arm and take them to an entirely new physical location. If an online adjunct instructor is tired of one geographical place it is a small matter to go to one that is warmer, colder or just cheaper. It is these very elements that remove academic limits for college teachers with adjunct positions.

It’s already back to school time and many are looking for some type of federal aid. With the passage of the stimulus bill last year, many students are hoping to find some sort of new Obama college grants that might be available this year. However, other than Pell grants that have been raised slightly, there is nothing new that the President has done for students.

It is true that President Obama has given a few speeches that emphasized the importance of getting your education and even going back to school if possible. He talked about moms return to school grants in a speech that got lots of media coverage. However, these were all just speeches and nothing more, just like all presidents seem to make. Every president wants to look like they are engaged and concerned about our education system even if they have no specific plans to do anything about it.

This year money is tight for everyone and students are in for a big challenge. College costs remain high and jobs are extremely hard to find which leaves many students scratching their heads wondering what to do. It is sad for this generation of college students that something so important like getting a college degree may be out of reach for many just because of financial concerns.

For many students, the question has to be how much they are willing to go into debt to get that degree? Yes, most everyone agrees that a degree is important but if you have to start out deep in debt so early in life just to get one then maybe an alternative should be considered. College should be a fun place where students go to learn and grow up, not a place where they become saddled with debt for the rest of their lives.

Getting a job, if one can be found, right out of high school and working your way up through the ranks of corporate America has to be a choice to be considered right now. Working four years and saving money might give you a better chance to make it in the real world than spending those four years accruing debt. It is a difficult decision for many college age students right now and an important one that has to be made so early in life.

When college instructors teaching on an adjunct basis at traditional universities and colleges start searching for online faculty opening it is quite normal for them to become impatient with the process. It is not unheard of for a prospective online adjunct instructor to wait an entire year to hear back from a post-secondary academic institution after making an application to teach online college classes in one or more accredited online college degree programs. However, if a disciplined, focused search strategy for online degree programs that have online college courses needing qualified individuals with graduate degrees is adhered to every day of the year the invitations to teach online will come along. The question is how well does patience pays off when searching for online adjunct faculty employment.

An online college teacher who approaches online teaching as an academic entrepreneur instead of a college or university employee is in a much better intellectual position to benefit from the new academic labor landscape. The academic workforce, college instructors, is comprised of a majority of temporary, part-time intellectual employees. This arrangement works very well for the individuals who pay the adjunct instructors at traditional college and universities because most college instructors who teach for a physical school are limited by geography. For instance, an adjunct college teacher who lives in a semi-rural area may have only one or two community colleges or state universities within driving distance of their home. On the other hand, a traditional college professor who lives in a densely populated urban area may have four or five post-secondary academic institutions for which to teach every day.

However, an online adjunct instructor can teach online college classes for a greater number of online college degree programs than he or she ever could in the physical world simply because the online degree programs exist on the Internet and are traveled between by use of an inexpensive personal computer, so there is no geographic limitation associated with online teaching.

This means that an aggressive online adjunct can overcome the geographic anchors represented by the physical distance between college campuses by simply search out and acquiring online adjunct employment with post-secondary institutions, technical schools, community colleges, state-colleges, four-year universities and for-profit colleges that confer the bachelors degree online and the online masters degree. Distance education technology has matured in the last decade to the point that an individual with a graduate degree and first-rate digital navigation skills can coordinate the teaching duties and administrative tasks for ten to twelve online college courses with three to five online degree programs every day from any physical location.

Further, the for-profit colleges have amply demonstrated that new and returning college students are delighted to have the chance to earn a special education degree online, a library science degree online or an electrical engineering degree online from their personal computers at home or at work. This same ease of arriving at the online classroom that the college students experience is a very good reason to be patient while searching for online faculty openings.

Some of the coolest engineering competitions around aren’t for adults. Seeing children tackle engineering challenges shows you just how much is possible in the minds of young ones who have not yet learned the dubious lesson that there is only one right way to do anything. These 10 coolest competitions include some of the brightest young minds in the world and their creations.

FIRST Lego League

The FIRST Lego League is meant to pique kids’ interest in science and engineering. There is a challenge every year where teams of children have 8 weeks to build a robot that must perform certain tasks in a limited amount of time and to create a solution for a real problem plaguing the world.

Odyssey Of The Mind

The Odyssey of the Mind program spans more than one discipline but its engineering competition has children of various ages work in teams to build mechanical devices to rectify problems. It is an excellent chance for children to use their creativity and to put what they learn about engineering into practice.

FIRST Robotics Competition

This competition declares itself to be a sport for the mind. Students not only end up building their very own robots but they also get to learn from professional engineers. Participation can also lead to a number of college scholarships.

Hydrogen Ambassadors International Competition

This competition centers around hydrogen and fuel cells and accepts participants of all ages. The team with the most ingenious idea wins.

MATE International ROV Competition

The MATE International ROV Competition has competitors building and remotely operating underwater robots. The winners are the ones who build the robots that best meet all the challenges required by competition rules.

RoboCup

The RoboCup competition is actually a collection of competitions where competitors make robots that play soccer. This end goal makes all the engineering work that much more fun.

ExploraVision

This competition encourages children to imagine and create the technology of the future. As with all engineering, the keys are creativity and problem solving. This competition is so popular that it is now entering its 18th year of holding these competitions which just goes to show how every generation is interested in pushing technology to new limits and beyond.

Internet Science And Technology Fair

This competition is inspired by the knowledge that much of the engineering workforce is nearing retirement age. It aims to nurture the engineers of tomorrow by providing them with a forum where they can learn, compete, and apply engineering principles.

Botball

Botball is a competition where students design and build robots to go up against each other in a non-destructive tournament. Robots in this competition are made to function without any remote control.

Future City Competition

The Future City Competition allows students to put engineering skills to use in building what they see as a city of the future. Engineering experts assist students in realizing their visions.

These are the 10 coolest engineering competitions in the world. They are fun and lead young people to careers in engineering. And they show off how kids can often build things most adults can’t.

T Rheinecker enjoys discussing ways to find the best online masters in engineering programs.

Possibly you’re stuck whenever you are faced with the much feared “metric system.” Maybe you’re more comfortable with a method based on tens. But when it comes to the ones with 12 inches/foot or 5,280 feet/mile, things seem real complicated, right? Fear no more! We’re here to help you convert meters per second into miles per hour.

By following our guidelines you should be easily able to convert meters per second into miles per hour. We are also about to provide you with a fast way for estimating your conversion together with a formula. We hope this will help you to carry out precise calculations.

First decide on how many meters per second (or m/s) you need to change to miles per hour (or mph). Then multiply the figure by 2.2369362920544. It’s a fixed factor. The result you get is the speed in miles per hour. Here are a few examples at your disposal.

1 meter per second = 1 x 2.2369362920544 = 2.2369362920544 miles per hour

5 meters per second = 5 x 2.2369362920544 = 11.148681460272 miles per hour

25 meters per second = 25 x 2.2369362920544 = 55.92340730136 miles per hour

125 meters per second = 125 x 2.2369362920544 = 279.6170365068 miles per hour

If you want to do quick calculations, you may just double the m/s to get the fairly accurate speed in miles per hour. Here are a few examples of such estimation –

10 miles per second = approximately 20 miles per hour

30 miles per second = approximately 60 miles per hour

60 miles per second = approximate 120 miles per hour

Again, this is just an approximate estimate and you are supposed to use it when you need to quickly estimate things without using any a calculator. This estimate happens to be a little low of what the real conversion will result in. So if you need to deal with serious situations, you shouldn’t rely on these rough estimates. For those who are skilled at arithmetic, multiplying the figure by 2.25 can provide you with a more precise though somewhat higher than real, approximation.

And not to mention that a really easy way to convert miles per hour to meters per second is to use a free online converter. Today, there are scores of these online converters that you can access for free. Fortunately, the results generated from these free converter tools are among the most precise ones.

In fact, I do what I do 100% because it’s what I’ve chosen. I opened my own law firm about a year ago and was lucky enough to get to choose my practice area.

But times have changed since I graduated from college, and even from law school (2005). Nowadays it seems that a lot of people are choosing law school because the job market is so bad. They figure in three years they can get out, get a job as an attorney, make a boatload of money, and right the short train to easy street.

I’ve got some news for you. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

And by that I don’t mean that law school isn’t the answer for everyone. But here are some things to consider. First, there are only so many high paying jobs out there – if you aren’t at the top of your class, you’re not getting one. Second, those high paying jobs aren’t very much fun. In fact, they are a crap ton of (usually) mind numbing work. You won’t be in the courtroom, you’ll be in the basement reviewing files. And, finally, law school is expensive. It’s often easier to take a little bit of time to find the right job for you after college and saving the law school debt than shackling yourself for decades to come with money you might not ever be able to pay back.

Is law school the answer for unemployment? For some, maybe (if you know you want to be a DUI attorney or some other kind of attorney, you should definitely do it). But for most, it’s just the first of what will probably be a long line of regretful decisions.
